University of New South Wales takes delivery of new Seamor 300F HD ROV
The ROV will be used for a wide variety of research projects, including the continual surveying of artificial reefs off Sydney, as well as travelling down to Antarctica for a 6 week underwater investigation of a variety of antarctic ecosystems.
The benefit of using the Seamor ROV is apparent due to its extremely robust design, as well as the only ROV of its kind to be able to deliver full uncompressed raw 1080p high definition video to the control panel. While conducting environmental and ecological surveys, it is important to be able to identify the variety of species encountered. The quality and clarity of the high definition video enables researchers to have the highest level of confidence when it comes to species identification.
A sample of footage taken on the day out at SIMS can be seen below. For best effect, ensure that you maximise the screen to take advantage of the full 1080p high definition.
