ROV Innovations Underwater Inspection Team
ROV Innovations was born from a need to provide quality, high definition underwater footage to marine and freshwater industries throughout Australia. Guided by the philosophy that "an ROV is only as good as the camera within it", we have searched and piloted a variety of ROVs including Videoray's, Seabotix, and even Sea Eyes, and found that each were lacking in a variety of critical aspects.
The cameras utilised by the Videoray and Seabotix ROVs were substandard, and could not be relied upon to perform consistantly to the high standards demanded by many companies in the industry. This coupled with their plastic framework make them a poor choice for the rigours of commercial applications.
In July 2011, Michael Porritt, Director of ROV Innovations, travelled to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, Canada, to meet with the progressive ROV manufacturing company "Seamor". Unlike other inspection class ROV manufacturers, Seamor build all of their advanced ROVs by hand and individually for each customer. All parts are machined and constructed onsite, allowing them to have an extremely high degree of quality control. Having a team of engineers (mechanical, electrical, and software) allows Seamor to tackle any problems their clients may have, and provide a truly custom designed ROV without the "custom" price tag.
After "flying" one of Seamor's demo ROVs in the clear waters off Vancouver Island, Michael was so impressed with the quality of even the Seamors standard definition Sony camera, as well as the ROVs stability, and responsiveness, that he decided to become the Distributor for Seamor within Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
Since ordering the initial HD Seamor ROV in July 2011, ROV Innovations have provided Australian and overseas companies the best underwater video quality available for an inspection class ROV.
