Underwater Bridge InspectionsROV Innovations won a contract to inspect the footings, scour, and general structural integrity of 19 bridges in Brisbane, Queensland. This initial inspection was to determine the general state of the bridges, detect any foreign obstacles around the footings, and also to measure any scouring and condition of the pile cap. Due to the zero visibility of the waterways in question, and the general nature of “phase one” of the bridge inspection, ROV Innovations conducted the inspections with one of their commercial dive teams. “Phase Two” of the inspections would require state of the art hardware such as high definition 3D multi beam sonar imaging to “see” the assets through the high turbidity of the Brisbane River and its tributaries. The inspections were completed on time and with no complications, allowing the Brisbane City Council to collect some valuable information of each of the bridges.
We look forward to assisting the BCC in future projects requiring in depth analysis of their underwater structures.
